How should I prepare?
Some rowing practice and preparatory exercise is a good idea. If you can’t get out onto the water, you can use a rowing machine in a gym. Rowing practice can help prevent blisters, although we recommend using rowing gloves if you’re not a regular rower (see resources).
You should be fit enough to undertake 4-6 hours light walking level exercise per day, and be able to get into and out of a boat safely from the riverbank (we always aim to stop and start where this can be done safely).
You’ll need to arrange transport to and from the start and end points of the trip, and you may also need accommodation at the start and end points. Please contact us for advice on this.
Finally, assuming you’re not from the UK, you’ll need all the insurance cover you’d expect to have for a trip abroad.
